The Power of Whole Food

Nutrition

Of all the variables in Cycling, nutrition is the one where meaningful changes in performance can be achieved by simple and cost effective interventions.

However Nutrition is a detailed and often confusing topic.

At Healey Cycling we look at Nutrition as a lifestyle. We want to make you healthy, energetic and flexible in what you eat; and when? Yes, gels, sports drinks and energy bars are important. But if you do not have the foundations in place then performance suffers. And it all comes down to Glucose.

Actually, Glucose is everything. Off the bike and while training.

With that in mind here are some of the things you can expect from our Nutrition Team:

Module 1: Glucose Instability

Our ancient food supply vs processed modern options, glucose spikes, mitochondria, free radicals, oxidation, glycation, HbA1c, ageing, fatigue, inflammation, weight gain, sleep, thoughts, feelings & emotions. All based on Glucose

Module 2:Glucose Stability

Glycemic Index, soluble & insoluble fibre, resistant starch, fibre food lists, the Healey Cycling Stable Glucose Food System

Module 3: Glucose Stability, Health & The Gut Microbiome

Low GI & the gut microbiome, microbiota, health & immunity, the gut + brain axis, microbiota friendly food, vegetarian diet, polyphenols

Module 4: Glucose Stability & Exercise

Insulin Sensitivity, glucose disposal during & after exercise, aerobic & anaerobic Exercise + insulin sensitivity, resistance training + insulin sensitivity, use your elevated insulin sensitivity, pre or post dinner workouts, the Healey Cycling Energy Management System

Bottom line: Being healthy off the bike makes you better on the bike
